I want to adopt a Siberian kitten. How can I be sure I am not adopting a Norwegian forest cat instead of a Siberian?

Ask for papers. If it is a true breed, it should be registered and the breeder should have the papers going back several generations. If the breeder does not have the papers, then it’s pot luck and what you see is what you get. Did you go online to www.cfainc.org and search on the breed name so you can get some pictures? They should also have an explanation of the breed standard, which should tell you the main differences in the breed.
