My cat, a 1 year old long-haired Manx, is having an odd issue with her eye. I’ve been laying around with her all day and just noticecd it for the first time about 15 minutes ago, so it seems to have come on pretty quickly. She is squinting it a ltittle bit (but it is still fairly open) and has SLIGHT discharge coming from it. The WEIRD part, though, is that the fur on her eyelid and around it seems to have fallen out or else she rubbed it out? She doesn’t seem to be in any pain and is purring and didn’t seem to mind me looking at her eye. Any ideas? I don’t have the money for the emergency vet unless it’s very necessary. Please help me out!!! Thank you!

Sounds like your Manx may have allergies (typically to food). Cats who rub their faces, noses and eyes until the fur is rubbed off is displaying an allergic reaction. She might also sneeze or shake her head. The eyes can be watery. I would try switching him/her over to a differnet food (over 7 day-period so as to not create diarrhea). A hypo-allergenic food is the best..
